Volcano! - Preschool Lesson

Yesterday Cameron and I did a lesson on volcanos! We learned that they are mountains that sometimes errupt in lava and smoke. He of course thought that was pretty cool. We talked about how the lava is down deep in the ground where we cant see it and when it errupts it goes up through the mountain and blows out the top. I told him that Mt Ranier back by our old house was a volcano and he said he wanted it to errupt... I then had to explain that its dangerous when volcanos errupt and people get hurt sometimes. It was a good lesson. So our fun part came when we got to make our own volcano! I found this little volcano at a gift shop a while back and picked it up just for this reason. We put the baking soda in and he poured in the vinegar and ta-dah! instant volcano. We had to of done this at least 20 times, he kept wanting to do it more. After this we put it in a glass full of water and watched it bubble like an underwater volcano. He really enjoyed this lesson to say the least :)

  1. This looks like a lot of fun. I can imagine him wanting to do it over and over again. Thanks for posting the photos.
